Is this a hexagon?
Most students can recognise and name the two shapes below as hexagons. However, they should be correctly described as regular hexagons.
Some students will believe that "a regular hexagon has six equal sides". However, for a hexagon with six equal sides to be regular, it must also have six equal angles. Students should understand that a regular hexagon has six equal sides and six equal angles.
These are also hexagons.
