Undertaking statistical investigations

Once students have experience in the separate components of statistics investigations (data collection, data representation, data reduction and informal inference), they are ready to undertake entire investigations of their own design.

Student should have the opportunity to:

  • explore questions which interest them
  • plan and carry out data collection
  • summarise, represent and analyse the data
  • make inferences based on the data
  • prepare a report.

Investigating us

A pedagogical framework is a useful aid for a series of lessons about conducting a statistical investigation. It includes ways to incorporate digital curriculum resources and other ICT materials, as well as advice on assessment.
